Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading, also known as eyebrow embroidery or 3D brows, is a relatively new manual technique for enhancing the appearance of eyebrows. It is considered to be a semi-permanent procedure that is performed by depositing pigment superficially in the upper region of the epidermis with the use of a hand tool that has attached tiny needles very close together. Because the color is closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no spilling under the skin.

WHAT IS THE OMBRÉ TECHNIQUE?

The Ombré technique gives a light to dark ombré effect. It is a technique that gives you a soft powdered makeup look that is still natural looking. This procedure is semipermanent and may last up to 1-3 years depending on skin type and care.

WHAT IS THE HYBRID TECHNIQUE?

A Hybrid Brow is a combination of Ombré and Microblading. It gives you the hair like strokes along with a nice soft filled in powder brow. This is by far my favorite technique. This procedure may last from 1-3 years depending on the skin type and care.

IS MICROBLADING, OMBRÉ, & THE HYBRID TECHNIQUE A TATTOO?

With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading and semi-permanant makeup, many are led to falsely believe Microblading, Ombre and Hybrid eyebrows is not a tattoo process. Permanent Cosmetics, Semi-Permanent Makeup, Micropigmentation, Microshading, Microblading, Microfeathering, Ombre, Hybrid, Shading, Eyebrow Embroidery, 3D Eyebrows, are all different names for the same procedure known as cosmetic tattooing. Any time pigment is placed into the skin with any device, it is a tattoo process as defined by many well informed regulators, the medical community, Health Department, and dictionary sources.

IS IT PERMANENT OR SEMI-PERMANENT?

Technically, Microblading, Ombre and the Hybrid technique is considered permanent because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, Microblading, Ombre and Hybrid pigment is not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional cosmetic tattoos, therefore the pigment will fade over time rendering it semi permanent.

IS MICROBLADING RIGHT FOR ME?

If you have any of the following, Microblading will most likely NOT be the solution for you:

  • Excessive sebum (excessive oily skin), brow strokes can spread creating a more powdery look, thin crisp stokes may not be visible.

  • Big pores

  • Overly sensitive skin

  • Allergies to topical anesthetics

  • Severe Acne on the brow area

  • Keratosis

  • Keloid scarring

  • Facial psoriasis or eczema

  • Overly dry skin

  • Iron deficiency

  • Previous tattoo (previous tattoo done by another artist must have a consultation before booking)

  • Fitzpatrick V & VI in the Fitzpatrick skin type scale. Microblading might not be suitable because of very high risk for scarring and very high risk of hyper/hypo pigmentation after treatment.

There are also various contraindications that will determine if you are an appropriate candidate for the procedure.

IS OMBRÉ SHADING RIGHT FOR ME?

If you have any of the following, Ombre will most likely NOT be the solution for you:.

  • Overly sensitive skin

  • Allergies to topical anaesthetics

  • Severe Acne on the eyebrow area

  • Keratosis

  • Keloid scarring

  • Facial psoriasis or eczema

  • Iron deficiency

  • Previous tattoo (previous tattoo done by another artist must have a consultation before booking)

There are also various contraindications that will determine if you are an appropriate candidate for the procedure.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT TECHNICIAN FOR ME?

This is one of the MOST important steps when considering Cosmetic Tattooing! In Florida your technician should be licensed by the Department of Health, insured and certified. Always ask for proof. Next, you should find an artist whose “signature style” resonates with your vision and personal style. Look at Before, After & Healed photos and read reviews on social media. With the sudden increase in demand and popularity there are many individuals that offer poor quality services in Cosmetic Tattooing and it is therefore vital to do extensive research.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Since Microblading, Ombre & Hybrid brow pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle. Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: clients who tan and/or use products with AHA or Glycolic Acid will fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual’s color retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up (color boost) is suggested every 6-15 months for Microblading, 12-24 months for Ombre & 12-24 months for Hybrid. Clients can let the Microblading, Ombre & Hybrid area fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain.

HOW WILL MY BROWS LOOK IN THE FUTURE?

During your appointment, we will analyze your skin tone to anticipate how pigment colors will heal and fade in the future. We will also mix pigments to ensure the color blends well with your natural hair and skin color. There are some cases, however, where the color may fade to different tones according to the individual’s response to the pigments (like lifestyle and iron deficiencies). Many factors affect these changes. At your follow up appointment, we will re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial color. If needed, special formula alterations to correct the color is made at this time. Your eyebrow tattoo will eventually look softer and have more of a “powdered” look. To keep your brows looking their best, a color boost is suggested. Results and preferences vary with each. There are also various contraindications that will determine client.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Cosmetic Tattooing is a 2 step process, usually 5-8 weeks apart. It is important to complete both the initial procedure and touch up.

STEP 1: The initial procedure takes approximately 3 hours. During this time, a
consultation is done where we discuss your desired brow look, choose a color tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Though our faces are NOT perfectly symmetrical (one side is usually flatter than the other), we do our very best to create as much symmetry as possible! Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, I then begin applying the pigment. This procedure uses a manual hand tool or a machine depending on the technique

STEP 2: The second stage of the process is a TOUCH-UP appointment. The touch up that takes approximately 1.5 hours. Touch ups are done no earlier than 5 weeks of your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks. If you do not schedule your touchup within 8 weeks, additional fees will apply.
It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Color will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up gives your technician a chance to make any changes or corrections necessary.

**Occasionally a third touch up (5-10 weeks after your touch-up) is necessary for certain clients where the pigment does not take as well to the skin. Please note a third touchup will include additional fees.**

DOES IT HURT?

While each individual will have a different experience when it comes to pain during the procedure, I do use a numbing cream to minimize the discomfort. Some clients have reported feeling no pain at all, only feeling a slight pressure on the area. Other clients say the sensation is similar to that of tweezing the brow area. Once the numbing gel wears off, the area may be sore or tender. We will always try our best to make you as comfortable as possible and manage any discomfort.

WILL MY BROWS LOOK 100% PERFECT?

No. And to expect perfect eyebrows is unrealistic. Cosmetic Tattooing is a form of art and the best way to ensure that you will be satisfied is to find an artist with a ‘signature style’ that you can relate to. Ask for before, after & healed photos and read the reviews on their social media platforms.

CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I'M PREGNANT OR NURSING?

No, unfortunately we cannot do your brow procedure if you are pregnant or nursing due to risk of infection.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET TATTOOED?

Per the state of Florida, 18+. ID is required before we begin your procedure.

HOW LONG IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

It takes about ten days for healing. In that time any redness will fade and the initial darkness of the eyebrows will begin to lighten. The color will lighten over about thirty days as it completely sets in. The complete healing process for microbladed eyebrows typically takes 4 weeks and then a touch up appointment follows.

IS A TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT NECESSARY?

Touch up is necessary because everyone heals differently and therefore the outcomes vary. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the color and brow thickness by adding more strokes. In the touch up session, the final adjustments are made to assure the client’s satisfaction.

WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY COSMETIC TATTOO?
  • Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo, so a physical sunscreen should be used (once healed) to prolong your enhancement.
  • The regeneration of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds.
The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold.
  • The choice of pigment color: Some colors may fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde pigment may fade quicker than a dark brunette pigment.
  • Bleeding during the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should avoided 48 hours prior to your appointment.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROCEDURE?

I take all proper precautions for a safe session by using disposable, one time use only needles in a sanitized environment. Should clients follow our pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks or complications. Although allergic reactions to the pigments are rare, it could be possible for certain individuals. I suggest a pigment patch test for all individuals. However, you do reserve the right to waive a patch test if you so desire. If you have any questions or concerns about this please contact us.

WHO IS NOT SUITED FOR THIS COSMETIC TATTOO?

Cosmetic Tattooing is not suitable for the following candidates:

  • Using Accutane

  • Have heart conditions or using heart medications

  • Keloid scarring

  • Have diabetes (will require a physician’s note)

  • Have skin disease or irritations

  • Have had Botox in the last 4 weeks

  • Have used Retin-A or Retinol in the last 2 weeks

  • Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 4 weeks or show any sign of sunburn to the face

  • Allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine

  • Anyone who has any serious medical conditions may require a physician’s note

  • If you are pregnant or nursing

I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who I deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason. I makes the final decision to Microblade, Ombre or Hybrid an individual based at their own discretion.

Other Contraindications may also include:

  • Using creams in the eyebrow area with the following ingredients; AHA’s (lactic, glycolic, citric, retinoid and tartaric acids)

  • Flu or Cold: Please stay home, reschedule your appointment if you have cold or flu or sinus/respiratory infection.

  • Coumadin: Amount of bleeding and response to topical epinephrine will determine coverage per appointment. If excessive bleeding occurs, extra appointments may be necessary for desired outcome or procedure may not be effective.

  • Cancers/Chemotherapy: Doctor’s clearance may be necessary.

  • Juvederm or other “fillers”: Get permanent makeup first or ask your juvederm tech for clearance.

  • Shingles (varicella): If you have shingles on your face, wait several months to get permanent makeup.

  • Eyelift or blepharoplasty: Wait about 3 months.

WILL YOU SHAVE MY EYEBROWS AND REMOVE ALL MY HAIR?

Absolutely not! That is what is so wonderful about this procedure. The purpose is to enhance your natural eyebrows. After designing your shape we only clean out the stray hairs that are outside of our desired shape.

CAN I HAVE THE PROCEDURE DONE IF I HAVE NO BROW HAIR AT ALL?

Absolutely! This is a great option for those who suffer from Alopecia, Trichotillomania, or have been through chemotherapy.

DO I STILL HAVE TO WAX OR PLUCK AFTER HAVING THIS PROCEDURE DONE?

The eyebrow tattoo does not affect the natural growth of the eyebrow. We definitely encourage you to groom your brows, especially if we are altering your natural shape. If, for example, we raise your tail a bit, allowing the hair to regrow outside the tattoo will make the tails appear thicker. You can still continue to wax, tweeze or thread to groom your brow. We do find that many clients are more comfortable with cleaning their own brows because the shape is always there, or they are able to go longer before their wax appointments because it retains the shape better.

CAN YOU COVER AN EXISTING BROW TATTOO?

We are extremely selective when working over existing tattoos and other tattoo artists’ work. If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed, we request that you email us clear photos of your brows for approval. BEFORE your appointment booking. In addition to the photos in your email, please include the date of your last brow tattoo and how many sessions you received. Please remember deposits are non refundable. If you book your appointment and pay your deposit before receiving approval, we cannot guarantee you will be approved and you will lose your deposit.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

You can find details instructions on the PRE & POST CARE section of our website. But here are some important things to know.

  • We strongly advise prospective new clients to book their Cosmetic Tattoo appointments at least 2-4 months in advance of Vacations, Weddings, and Special Occasions. This allows adequate time for healing of both your initial appointment as well as a touch-up Session 5-10 weeks later. It is a multi step process. Some clients need more than two sessions to achieve their desire density and shape.

  • 24 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE.

  • 72 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary.

  • Botox should be done 4 weeks before or 4 weeks after the procedure.

  • Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.

  • No waxing or tinting 4 days before.

  • Be prepared for your brows to look a little red and really dark! – don’t worry, they will fade in color 20%-40%

  • YOU MUST NOT BE FRESHLY SUN TANNED OR BURNED ON THE FACE. WE CANNOT PROCEED WITH YOUR SERVICE. A sun tan/burn is injury to the skin, as the skin is healing itself it will shed all the top layers. This means the pigment will not stay. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE, please plan accordingly.

  • PLEASE BE READY FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. I work on a strict schedule and allow 3 hours per appointment. This includes answering questions you may have, mapping brow and procedure. It is important that you trust my artistry and work. Do not book your appointment if you are hesitant, unsure, or apprehensive about changing your natural brows. Book when you are 100% ready for your new brows. I understand everyone is a little bit nervous but this creates a safe space for both you and the artist, allowing me to do my best work in creating your new brows!

HOW DO I SCHEDULE MY TOUCH-UP?

Your touch-up appointment needs to be scheduled 5-10 weeks after your initial visit. It is extremely important that you schedule your touch-up as soon as possible after your initial visit, as appointments are limited and fill up quickly. Your touch-up is very important! It will allow us to see your healed results and make any necessary adjustments. You can schedule your touch-up appointment by using the BOOKING tab. Please note that a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to book your touch-up visit as well.

IS THE PIGMENT USED SAFE?

We care about the health and safety of our clients, which is why we chose only the best Cosmetic Tattooing pigments in the market, Permablend pigments.

  • Exclusively made for cosmetic tattooing with excellent color retention.

  • Tartrazine free, as it is highly allergic artificial coloring additive.

  • No heavy and toxic metals, that usually can be found in 98% of semi permanent pigment brands.

  • Vegan friendly

HOW IS THE SHAPE AND COLOR CHOSEN?

I make our recommendations based on your facial structure, measurements and ratios. Together we create the shape that best suits you. We map out your new shape with a cosmetic pencil first so you can see how it will look on your face, and we will not start the procedure until you are happy with what we have created. Same applies when choosing the color. We have a wide range of natural colors, as a rule of thumb, we closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results. Please note, it is important that both the client and artist are happy with the shape and direction of your new brows.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

After the procedure, you will be provided with aftercare product as well as aftercare instructions. These must be used and followed carefully to ensure the procedure area heals properly. FINAL RESULTS ARE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY HOW CLOSELY YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. There is no down time for Cosmetic Tattooing, however, the area may be red and tender and we recommend that you do not plan any social activities afterwards. This is NOT a quick fix beauty treatment and you have to be prepared to endure all the healing stages of Cosmetic Tattooing. Please note that your brows will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first few days (20-40% darker). They may also look thicker in shape. This is completely normal as the excess pigment is sitting on top of your skin. This will gradually fade during the healing process. The final results are NOT meant to stay as dark as your brows appear immediately after procedure is finished.

The following instructions apply for the 14 days following your procedure:

  • Wash your brows every night and morning. Ointment will be applied after each morning and evening wash (A rice grain size amount of ointment on each brow.)

  • The brows need to be kept dry unless you are washing them in the morning and evening. This means protecting them from direct water exposure in the shower, avoiding get them wet when washing your hair, no swimming, sweating, steam, etc. If washing your brows while in the shower do this as the last thing.

  • After each wash, make sure you gently BLOT the water off your brows using a tissue. DO NOT use a towel due to it holding moister.

  • Once the flaking has finished you can proceed to your regular routine. Avoid Retin-A, Chemical Peels and Microderms around the brow area.

  • No sweating while healing. This includes exercise, sauna, hot yoga, outdoor activities etc. for the 10-14 day healing period.

  • No sun exposure while healing. If you will be outdoors for extended periods of time, you must wear a hat.

  • DO NOT RUB, PICK OR SCRATCH AT THE TREATED AREA. It will typically take 5-14 days for the brows to peel/flake.

  • No other products or makeup should be applied on the brow area. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Itchiness, redness and residual swelling is normal. Symptoms will dissipate each day.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face/brows till flaking has ended.

  • Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.

  • NO facials, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • NO botox for 4 weeks. We recommend that it’s best to wait until after your touch up heals to get Botox, as an educated injector will take your new brows into consideration when choosing where to inject.

  • After 14 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading.

  • You may resume brow tinting 4 weeks after your procedure.

  • Avoid Retin-A, Chemical Peels and Microderms around the brow area once healed.

  • IF YOU SEE ANY SIGNS OF AN INFECTION OR AN ALLERGIC REACTION, YOU MUST CONTACT ME 407.216.3939

Your brows may appear very light underneath after they peel due to the tissue still healing from the inside out, even though the surface has healed. Your skin heals over the top of the strokes and will naturally exfoliate itself. The true color will reveal itself once fully healed before the touch up, typically around weeks 3-4 weeks. Again, this all depends your skin. High quality pigments and equipment are used to ensure the best results but do not guarantee how your skin will react to the procedure.

DOES IT HURT AFTER IM DONE?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender to touch for a couple days. Itchiness is also common the first couple of days to weeks.

WHAT IF I DONT LIKE IT?

As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. We always recommend clients do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists’ work and portfolio when making their decisions. I will do my best to shape and style the eyebrows to the clients satisfaction prior to the procedure, while staying true to the “Vlorë Style”. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please realize our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Uneven appearance can be worked on during the touch up session. Pigment discoloration and color correction can also be addressed during the the touch up session. Cosmetic Tattooed brows will eventually fade if no additional touch ups are done.
Allow the brows to heal before making final judgment on your new brows.

DO YOU TATTOO MENS BROWS?
